Barrister Moudud Ahmed passes away

BNP standing committee member and also former minister Barrister Moudud Ahmed has died at Mount Elizabeth Hospital in Singapore. He was 80.

He breathed his last around 6:30 pm on Tuesday, BNP chairperson's press wing member Shairul Kabir Khan confirmed told The Daily Samakal.

When Moudud Ahmed fell ill on December 29, he was admitted to the CCU of Ever Care Hospital in the capital. On January 13, he was transferred from CCU to the cabin. Later, when his condition improved, he was brought home from the hospital on January 20.

As his condition deteriorated again, he was admitted to the hospital on January 21. Moudud was taken to Singapore on a Bangladesh Biman flight at 12 midnight on February 1 for better treatment. Later, he was admitted to Mount Elizabeth Hospital.

Moudud Ahmed was born on May 24 in 1940 in Noakhali district.
