Alal apologizes for derogatory remarks on PM

BNP joint secretary general Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal has apologized for making derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Seeking apology, he has sent a press release to the media on Tuesday morning.

Withdrawing his earlier statement, he said, “Good luck, my dear homeland, peaceful Bangladesh.”

His apology came as recently, there was a huge reaction in the country with his statement. Cases have been filed against him in various places for that statement. A summons was also issued in a defamation case in Shariatpur.

On the other hand, Alal is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in India for kidney complications.

In this situation, Moazzem Hossain Alal said in a press release, “I am in a critical condition of life thousands of miles away from my beloved homeland. I have had a serious surgery on my body. For this reason, the family has kept me away from all the bad news. Even then I learned late that one of my statements in the past had caused quite a controversy. In my long 49 years of political life, I have not knowingly or intentionally hurt the respect, feelings and beliefs of anyone. Yet as a human being I am not above mistakes.”
