Sabbir brilliance makes 2-0 lead for Bangladesh

Hosts Bangladesh have defeated visiting Zimbabwe by 42 runs in the second Twenty20 International (T20I) in Khulna on Sunday.

Batting first at Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium, Bangladesh scored 167 for 3 wickets in 20 overs before they held the visitors on 125 for 8 in 20 overs.

Sabbir Rahman and Shakib Al Hasan were unbeaten on 43 and 27 runs respectively while Soumya Sarkar scored a brisk 43.


Mushfiqur Rahim retired hurt at the last delivery of 15th over and then Shakib Al Hasan joined Sabbir Rahman.


Cremer picked the wickets of Soumya Sarkar and Mahmudullah. Muzarabani sent Tamim back to the pavilion when the batsman scored 23 runs.

Zimbabwe openers Vusi Sibanda and Hamilton Masakadza made the solid start while they were chasing the 168-run target. The duo built a 50-run opening stand.

Following batting, Sabbir showed a superb bowling performance. He took three wickets for 11 in 2.1 overs while Mustafizur took 2 wickets. Meanwhile, Mashrafe, Shuvagata and Al-Amin took a wicket each.

Bangladesh also won the first match of the four-match T20I series by 4 wickets and are leading the series by 2-0.
