Mashrafe becomes UN goodwill ambassador

Bangladesh ODI and T20 skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has been appointed as a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations (UN).

When contracted, Mashrafe told Samakal that he had got a proposal in this regard from the UN several days ago and given his consent.

Earlier, none of the sports personalities of Bangladesh became the goodwill ambassador for the United Nations.

Earlier, Mashrafe worked as a goodwill ambassador of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for the international physically disabled people’s tournament.

Earlier in 2013, the ace all-rounder of Bangladesh cricket team Shakib Al Hasan had become UNICEF goodwill ambassador, alongside two other celebrities of the country — popular film actress Arifa Zaman Moushumi and famous magician Jewel Aich.
