Kruif wants senior players back in national team

The reappointed Dutch head coach of Bangladesh National Football team Lodewijk de Kruif, who arrived in the capital on Tuesday morning for a short term, said he wants senior players, including former captain Mamunul Islam Mamun, in the national squad, reports the UNB.

 

“Mamun is a very important player for Bangladesh, because he is the captain. He can help me what I want to tell others (players). So, this guy is very important and I want him in the team,” Kruif said while talking to reporters at Bangabandhu National Stadium during the practice session in the afternoon.

 

“When you want to perform, you have to bring some players back, otherwise no chance,” he added.     

 

“We want to play tactical game in away match (against Tajikistan) and we deserve win in home match,” the Dutch coach said.

 

Bangladesh team will leave for Tajik capital Dushanbe on May 29 to play their away match on June 2 before hosting Tajikistan on June 7.  

 

Earlier, Kruif arrived in the capital in the morning to take the charge of the Bangladesh National team ahead of the next month’s Asian Cup Qualifying play-off against Tajikistan.
