Saintfiet new football coach of Bangladesh

Bangladesh Football Federation has verbally put Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet in charge of the national team for next three months.

National Teams Committee Chairman Kazi Nabil Ahmed confirmed the matter to Samakal on Tuesday.

The 42-year-old manager was provisionally given the responsibility ahead of Bangladesh's playoff matches for the Asian Cup qualifiers, he said.

Saintfiet, who has coached Togo, Malawi, Yemen, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe and Namibia, also confirmed the news of his taking over the coaching duties.

The position of the national football team coach fell vacant after the Bangladesh Football Federation did not extend the contract of Dutch coach Lodewijk de Kruif.
