Police quizzing pitch-invader

Police are quizzing the person who entered the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium ground during the third and final ODI between Bangladesh and Afghanistan yesterday.

The pitch-invader has been taken to the Mirpur Model Police Station and being quizzed, police said.

Mirpur Model Police Station OC Bhuiyan Mahbub Hossain said the person claimed himself a fan of the Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza.

“Suspicious anything was not found during the primary interrogation. We will interrogate him further to be fully confirmed in this regard,” he said.

Around the 30th over of the third ODI yesterday the person from the VIP gallery made his way to the field and ran towards Mashrafe, who was fielding at mid-on.

While Mashrafe initially seemed a bit taken aback he eventually hugged the person and even seemed to ask the security officials not to hurt him.

The person is identified as Mehadi Hasan hailed from Savar, located on the outskirts of the capital, Dhaka. He is the second semester student of the United International University.
