West Indies team coming to Bangladesh today

West Indies 'A' team are coming to Bangladesh on Thursday to play three unofficial Test matches against Bangladesh 'A' team.

All three of the four-day matches will be held in Sylhet. The first match will be held on May 16. The second and third games will be held from May 23 and May 30 respectively, reports BSS.

Bangladesh visited West Indies in August last year for a bilateral series. The two unofficial Tests ended in a draw and the three-match one-day series also was locked at 1-1 after a game was washed out.

The 15-member Caribbean squad notably includes wicket-keeper/batter Joshua Da Silva as captain, left-handed opener Tagenarine Chanderpaul, left-handed all-rounder Raymon Reifer, fast bowler Anderson Phillip and left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie, reports Caribbean Life.

The squad also welcomed three newcomers to the international level, openers Kirk McKenzie and Zachary McCaskie as well as fast bowler Jair McAllister. These three made their first-class debuts during the West Indies Championship four-day first-class tournament earlier this year.

Other players include Alick Athanaze, Yannick Cariah, Keacy Carty, Tevin Imlach, Akeem Jordan, Brandon King and Kevin Sinclair.

Afif Hossain who was axed from the national team was named captain of the team for the first two matches for which Test regulars like Zakir Hasan, and Nayeem Hasan were included.

The squad also included Naim Sheikh, the highest run-getter of DPL so far, Shadman Islam, Zakir Hasan, Saif Hasan, and Mahmudul Hasan - also openers. According to team management, they will be rotated in different batting positions.

The pace bowling department included Rejaur Rahman Raja, Mushfik Hasan, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Ripon Mondol while Rishad Hossain, Nayeem Hasan and Tanvir Islam will take care of the spin department.
