Afghans reach 35-3 at lunch

Shoriful Islam and Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury dealt early blows to the Afghans, taking three wickets for just 35 runs before lunch on the second day of the one-off Test against Afghanistan at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Thursday.

Shoriful dismissed Ibrahim Zadran (6) first, while Ebadot took the wickets of opener Abdul Malik (17) and Rahmat Shah (9).

Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh folded for 382 runs.

On day one, Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bowl first, with Zakir Hasan dismissed for just one run early on.

Despite this, Bangladesh had a strong start with Mahmudul Hasan Joy scoring 76 runs from 137 balls, including 9 boundaries before being caught by Ibrahim Zadran off the bowling of Rahmat Shah.

Bangladesh ended day one on 362 for 5, thanks to a brilliant knock by Najmul Hossain Shanto.

However, Afghanistan took the rest of the wickets and sent Bangladesh packing with just 382 runs on day two.
