Tamim will be our captain in World Cup: Papon

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Nazmul Hassan Papon reiterated that they want to keep Tamim Iqbal as captain of the team in the upcoming World Cup.

A few days ago, Tamim's retirement conundrum and subsequent change of decision following the meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina were the talk of the town.

However, while talking to the reporters in the city on Sunday, Papon made the issue clear to public.

"I'll tell you one thing straightaway: Tamim will lead us in the World Cup. There is no question," Papon stated.

"Liton Das captained the team because Tamim missed the previous two games against Afghanistan. Tamim will now serve as the team's captain if he rejoins. If he doesn't show up, we'll pick someone else. We are still unsure about his return date.”

According to information, Tamim's back ailment required surgery to cure properly, but the recovery time would be four to six months, putting his World Cup participation in doubt.
