When are the Cricket World Cup 2023 semi-finals?

The World Cup group stage is drawing to a close and the semi-finalists have been decided. Hosts India topped the group and will face New Zealand, while South Africa take on Australia. Take a look at the semifinals.

When are India vs New Zealand playing?

The first semi-final will take place on Wednesday, 15 November with the match due to start at 08:30 GMT.

India won the group game between the sides with Daryl Mitchell making 130 in vain for New Zealand as Virat Kohli's 95 helped the home side chase down 274 with four wickets in hand.

When are South Africa vs Australia playing?

The second semi-final is a day later on Thursday, 16 November. It's another 08:30 GMT start.

Quinton de Kock scored 109 as South Africa thrashed Australia by 134 runs in their group phase meeting with Pat Cummins' side bowled out for 177 in pursuit of 312.

What are the Cricket World Cup semi-final venues?

India and New Zealand will make their way to Mumbai for their last-four clash at the Wankhede Stadium, the venue for the final back in 2011 when India last won the World Cup.

It was also the scene of India's thumping 302-run win over Sri Lanka, in which they bowled their opponents out for 55. New Zealand have yet to play in Mumbai in the tournament.

It's Kolkata for South Africa and Australia as Eden Gardens plays host.

The Proteas' only experience at the ground in this tournament was a 243-run defeat by India, while the semi-final will be Australia's first match there since 2017.

How they got there

India have been dominant in the group stage. Rohit Sharma's side have swept the competition aside, winning their first eight games to secure top spot and they have a chance to make it nine from nine when they play the Netherlands on Sunday.

South Africa finished second after winning seven of their nine matches. They showed impressive batting power when batting first but were less convincing when asked to chase, suffering a shock loss to the Netherlands and a big defeat by India.

After a slow start in which they lost to India and South Africa, Australia found form and won their next seven on the trot, including the thrilling Glenn Maxwell-inspired chase against Afghanistan to seal their place in the top four.

New Zealand made it into the knockouts on net run-rate after a topsy-turvy group stage in which they won their first four games, lost the next four before a convincing win over Sri Lanka got them through.

When is the Cricket World Cup final?

The final is on Sunday, 19 November and starts at 08:30 GMT at the 1,32,000-capacity Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
