Bangladesh loses 3 wickets early

Bangladesh lost three wickets for just 11 runs on day 3 of the first test in the two-match Test series-opening game at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Wednesday. 

The hosts have lost 6 wickets for 116 runs this innings, with Zaker Ali Anik and Mehidy Hasan Miraz on the crease. 

On day 2, South Africa batter Kyle Verreynne hit a brilliant century. With a 202-run deficit, Bangladesh made a poor start as Kagiso Rabada struck twice in the third over, to leave the home side 4-2, taking the wicket of Shadman Islam (1) and Mominul Haque for a duck in three balls.

Mahmudul Hasan Joy and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto resisted with a 55-run partnership before Keshav Maharaj got the better of the Bangladesh captain who made 23.

Joy and his senior partner Mushfiqur Rahim saw off the day before the former survived a stumping dismissal narrowly. 

 Mushfiqur Rahim became the first Bangladeshi batter to reach the milestone of 6000 runs in Test cricket. 

Amongst the Bangladeshi batter who hit at least 2000 runs, Tamim Iqbal has the best average –38.89. Mushfiqur Rahim is second to Tamim with a 38.48 average. Both Shakib and Mominul have an identical batting average of 37.77. 

Bangladesh, which were bowled out for 106 in the first innings, reached 101-3 before the bad light brought a premature end to Day 2.
