What says KKR about Mustafizur Rahman's exclusion

Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) have released Bangladeshi left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the team. KKR confirmed the matter in a statement on Saturday.

KKR had acquired Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL auction for Rs 9.2 crore. However, due to diplomatic relations between the two countries, the BCCI instructed KKR to exclude Mustafizur from the IPL.

Following the instructions, KKR has excluded the renowned cutter master Mustafizur from the upcoming March-April-May IPL.

In a statement, KKR confirmed that they have received instructions from the BCCI, the IPL's regulator, to release Mustafizur from the team. Following the board's instructions, after due process and discussions, KKR has finalized the decision to release Mustafizur.

The BCCI secretary had previously stated that KKR could choose an alternative to Mustafizur if they wished. In that case, the board would approve it. KKR also addressed the matter, stating that there is an opportunity to select an alternative cricketer for KKR. The franchise will discuss this further.

Last December, a person named Dipu Das was brutally murdered in Mymensingh. India's ruling party BJP was vocal about this incident. Several leaders of the party demanded that Mustafizur be excluded from the IPL. They also involved Shahrukh Khan, one of the owners of KKR.
