ICC urges Bangladesh to reconsider world cup boycott; BCB stands firm

Despite a plea from the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) remains unwavering in its decision not to participate in the T20 World Cup in India. 

During a video conference on Tuesday, the ICC requested that Bangladesh reconsider its stance, arguing that logistical complications make it nearly impossible to change venues or schedules at this late stage.

However, the BCB held its ground, citing significant security concerns as the reason for their refusal. 

Instead of travelling to India, the board has reiterated its demand that Bangladesh’s matches be moved to a neutral venue outside of India. 

A BCB press release confirmed that the board’s top priority is the safety of its players, coaches, and officials.

The high-level meeting was attended by BCB President Aminul Islam Bulbul, Vice-Presidents Sakhawat Hossain and Faruk Ahmed, Chief Executive Nizam Uddin Chowdhury, and Head of Cricket Administration Nazmul Abedin.
