BPL Fixing Scandal: Five Suspended Following BCB Investigation

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has found evidence of match-fixing allegations surrounding the 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Based on a 900-page investigation report, formal charges have been filed against five individuals—including a cricketer, a franchise owner, and managers—for violating anti-corruption regulations. The accused have been temporarily suspended from all cricketing activities for the time being.

According to the investigation by the BCB’s Integrity Unit, those facing specific charges are, domestic cricketer Amit Majumdar, team manager Md. Lablur Rahman, franchise co-owner Md. Touhidul Haque Touhid, another team manager Rezwan Kabir Siddique, and an individual named Saminur Rahman.

The investigation report states that cricketer Amit Majumdar and team manager Rezwan Kabir Siddique were directly involved in betting on match results or specific match situations. On the other hand, serious allegations have been brought against Lablur Rahman and Touhidul Haque Touhid for obstructing investigating officers, concealing information, and deleting evidence.

The BCB stated that the accused individuals have been given 14 days to respond to the charges. During this period, they will have the opportunity to defend themselves. The BCB will not make any further comments on the matter while this process is ongoing.

Meanwhile, the BCB has issued a long-term ban against Saminur Rahman for his contact with betting syndicates and match-related corruption during the previous three editions of the BPL (9th, 10th, and 11th). He has confessed to his crimes and accepted the suspension. The BCB issued this ban in accordance with its "Excluded Person Policy."
