Maradona to visit Bangladesh

Football legend Diego Maradona will pay visit to Bangladesh in 2020 on the occasion of birth centenary celebrations of father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) president Kazi Salahuddin made the disclosure while talking to journalists on Tuesday.

Salahuddin said Mujib Year has been celebrated from March 17, 2020 to March 17, 2021. Madonna will arrive in Dhaka within this timeframe.

He said Maradona would not stay in Dhaka for more than one to two nights. 

His tour schedule will include meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The government is taking various programs throughout the year to celebrate Mujib Year. As part of the celebrations, each and every federation and association, including Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), have taken special plans to make the programmes of birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman a great success.

Argentine football legend Maradona won the World Cup in 1986. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest players of all time. Maradona is now the coach of Argentine Primera División club Gimnasia de La Plata.
