This is really frustrating now. Even a senior batsman like Mahmudullah has perished while chasing a wide delivery. Shaheen Afridi gets his third wicket and he has to credit Asad Shafiq for this wicket. Shafiq dived to his right and took a great catch to send the batsman to the pavilion. Oh dear, we're just back after Lunch and Najmul has been dismissed.Dreadful start for Bangladesh in the second session. A nothing shot from the batsman and Abbas has broken the stand that kept Pakistan at bay earlier. He departs for 44.

LUNCH: Good recovery from Bangladesh, this to end the session on 95/3. Najmul Hossain Shanto and Mahmudullah have added 33 runs in a crucial stand after the initial blows. They were reduced to 3-2 with both openers back in the shed early on before Shanto led the fightback with skipper Mominul Haque. Haque departed for 30 but Mahmudullah and Shanto have kept Pakistan's bowlers at bay since. Shaheen Afridi looked threatening all session and bagged two wickets. He's likely to return a few more if he continues to bowl in a similar fashion. Given that the session was an extended one, the lunch break will be of 60 minutes. Do join us then.

Poor shot

That was absolutely needless. The skipper will be extremely disappointed with his shot selection. Shaheen bowled one full and wide and the batsman went after it only to edge it to the keeper. The partnership was brewing but Pakistan have found a way to apply the brakes again. Mahmudullah is the new man.

50-run stand

Bangladesh have recovered pretty well and it's the skipper who is leading the charge from the front. The fifty-run partnership comes up after a beautiful flick towards midwicket an he repeats the shot again. Bangladesh are 57/2.

Disaster for Bangladesh

Two in two now. Mohammad Abbas takes the new ball at the other end and he has dismissed the big fish. Tamim Iqbal is rapped on the pads but the appeal is turned down by the umpire. Pakistan are confident though and take the review. And boy their call proved to be right in the end as the ball is smashing the off stump. Tamim has to walk back and this is a disastrous start for the visitors. Bangladesh are 3/2 and Mominul Haque is already out there in the middle.

The live-blogger's curse! Saif Hassan falls off his second ball, chasing one away from his body nervously and nicking it through to Asad Shafiq in the slip cordon! Very early setback for Bangladesh, and his joy after receiving his Test cap has been short-lived!

Test debut for Saif Hassan

Saif Hassan is presented with his Test cap, with his pads on. He's going to open the batting. The nerves will be jangling for him, but he's got enough experience of competitive cricket - 29 years of age and gone through the grind of domestic cricket.

The pitch

Unless I'm tragically discovering colour-blindless amidst my morning shift, the pitch doesn't look particularly green to me, as opposed to what the host broadcast experts have mentioned. There seems to be some deadgrass on the surface, and it may only seam around initially for a few overs, before the pitch flattens out as much as the pitiful Kookaburra seam.
