Beximco Dhaka win toss & field first in opening match

Beximco Dhaka captain Mushfiqur Rahim won the toss and sent Minister Group Rajshahi batting in the first match of the Bangabandhu T20 Cup here at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

Both the teams however are eager to make a winning start to take early advantage. While Rajshahi became weakened to some extent after losing key player Saifuddin to ankle injury, Dhaka fielded a full strength side, reports BSS.

Dhaka captain Mushfiqur is optimistic with his side, stating that they would try to ensure the top four first and hence a winning start is very important.

“Hopefully Beximco Dhaka will start the tournament with good note and finish it the same way. Our first goal is to move into the top four and of course then we’ll play to win the title,” Mushfiqur said ahead of the match.

Rajshahi is unfazed by the absence of Saifuddin as they believe they have still enough firepower in the batting and bowling line up, which could plug the loopholes created by the team’s key all-rounder.

“No doubt, Saifuddin is a very important player to us. But unfortunately maybe for the first six-seven days we won’t get him. But we don’t really have time to think about it. Since we have a match tomorrow, we are confident as we have some good players who can win the match,” Rajshahi captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto said ahead of the match.
