Narine stars as Comilla stun Barishal to clinch BPL title

The Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League trophy was won by Comilla Victorians, who defeated Fortune Barishal by a single run in a thrilling final contested at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur tonight.

Comilla's pacer Shohidul Islam pulled off a successful one by defending ten runs off the penultimate over and three runs off the last ball as Barishal were restricted to 150 for eight after 20 overs while chasing 152 runs.

Shykat Ali's magnificent 34-ball 58-run effort, which included eleven fours and a six, gave Barishal the upper hand for the bulk of the chase, but Chris Gayle anchored the innings with 33 runs off 31 balls. The two added 74 for the second wicket, but Shakib Al Hasan's side fell short of the mark in the nail-biter finish due to quick wickets in the middle. Shakib was unable to take advantage of the opportunity when he was run out on just seven balls.
