'Teletalk 3G to cover every upazila by 2018'

State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim unveiled her two-year long plan that mainly focused on rolling-out strong network to cover all upazila.

 

"In the next two-years, we've planned to roll-out 3G network to all the upazilas," she told media while visiting the operator's office this morning.''

 

Referring to different modernization and up-gradation projects of Teletalk, Tarana said, "I've taken the challenge to make Teletalk capable to compete with other private operators within two years and I will do it without providing any additional favor to it." 

 

She said Teletalk is going to install a total of 2900 base transceiver stations (BTSs) for 2G and 2000 Node Bs for 3G by December 2017 under two separate projects, reports BSS.

 

Apart from these, the state minister said Teletalk is contemplating to launch another project to reach 3G coverage to union levels. "The Development Project Proforma (DPP) involving Taka 2,300 crore would be sent to the ministry soon for necessary procedures." 

 

Currently, Teletalk is running its operation with 3750 2G BTSs and 1562 Node Bs across the country. 

 

Besides, the operator has also set goal to add in another 50,000 retailers with the existing 26,000 retailers while increase the customer cares number to 87 from the existing 40 in next six month to offer better service to the customers. 

 

"From today, I will meet you (media) after six months to share our achievement whether we are successful or failure," stated Tarana.
