Nahid for action against those involved in internet shutdown

Adviser for Posts, Telecommunications, and Information Technology Nahid Islam said on Sunday that action will be taken against the officials involved in shutting down the internet during the recent student protests.

He sounded the warning while talking to journalists on the maiden day of joining his office at the Secretariat.

Nahid said those responsible for the internet shutdown during the protests will face consequences.

Access to the internet is a right and disrupting or shutting down internet services is a violation of human rights, he said.

The Information and Communication Technology Division plans to incorporate youth participation to fulfil the aspirations of the young generation, the advisor added.
