Nationalist ICT Forum denounces misleading reports

The Nationalist ICT Forum (NICTF) has dismissed recent media reports alleging the expulsion of members as entirely false, baseless, and driven by ulterior motives.

In a formal protest letter, the organisation emphasised that no member had been expelled.

The statement followed an emergency special general meeting held on Monday, June 29, during which the committee was unanimously restructured and responsibilities redistributed. The meeting also approved the organisation’s constitution and aimed to accelerate its ongoing activities.

According to the protest letter, a no-confidence motion was raised against the then president, Raphael Kabir. Following discussions, forum adviser Professor Dr Shah J Mia was appointed acting president on the basis of the views expressed by members present. Professor Dr Shah J Mia and general secretary Md Rowshan Kamal James were subsequently tasked with reconstituting the 101-member triennial committee.

The NICTF warned that a vested interest group is systematically spreading rumours intended to sow confusion within the ICT sector and obstruct the organisation’s progress. It has appealed to members, well-wishers, and stakeholders not to be misled by such inaccurate information.

The newly reconstituted committee is headed by chief adviser Professor AKM Wahiduzzaman. The advisers are HM Saif Ali Khan, Faisal Alim, Professor Dr Faridul Islam, Engineer Raphael Kabir, Abbas Farooq, Professor ANK Zaman, and Dr Atiqur Rahman.

Professor Dr Shah J Mia serves as acting president, supported by vice-presidents Professor Dr Kudrat E Jahan, Mohammad Samiul Islam, Barrister Nazmus Salehin, Saima Shawkat, Md Arfatur Rahman Apel, Md Asaduzzaman Rubel, Engineer HM Moinul Islam, Imtiaz Mirza, and Nafis Wahid.

Md Rawshan Kamal James is the general secretary, with joint general secretaries AHM Rokmunur Zaman Rony, Riyad Hasnain, Hasibur Rashid, and Sajib Barua. Engineer Md Jewel is the organising secretary, Shamim Azad the office secretary, Nawid Hossain the finance secretary, Mohiuddin Ahmed Saikat the publicity and publication secretary, and research secretaries Kazi Imrul Hasan, Zubayer Rial, Nishat Anjum, Humayun Kabir Mukul, and Ilias Mollah. Ferdous Alam Epon is the startup and entrepreneurship secretary.

Additional office bearers include cultural affairs secretary Md Ali Rubel, sports affairs secretary Khandaker Shamsuzzaman Lemon, education and training secretary Tapit Hasan Chowdhury, international secretary Md Al-Mamun, women’s affairs secretary Naziba Wajiha Mahbub, social welfare secretary Nadim Hridoy, health affairs secretary Md Rashedul Islam, and legal affairs secretary Barrister Abrar Ilyas.

Co-positions are held by co-organising secretaries Md Hasibur Rahman Safin and Maqsud Hossain; co-office secretaries Kazi Mukituzzaman and Md Fuad Hasan; co-finance secretary Qutub E Jahan; and co-publicity and publication secretaries Minhaj Us Salekin Fahmi and Rashed ul Haque Sarkar.
