On-test 5G in December: Mustafa Jabbar

The 5G services would be launched on a trial basis in the capital Dhaka next December, said Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar.

Government-run mobile phone operator Teletalk will launch the 5G service on a trial basis on Digital Bangladesh Day on December 12 or Victory Day on December 16.

He came up with the disclosure at a discussion meeting on 5G on Saturday.

Telecom Reporters Network Bangladesh (TRNB) organized the online discussion titled '5G Ecosystem in Bangladesh and Upcoming Technologies'.

Mustafa Jabbar said, “Teletalk 5G services will be launched on a trial basis this year and it will expand next year. 5G waves will be auctioned off to other mobile phone operators by next December. So, other operators will be able to launch 5G next year.”
