EU court says companies can ban wearing of religious symbols

EU companies have the right to prohibit employees from wearing religious or political symbols, such as the Islamic headscarf, the bloc's top court ruled Tuesday.

"An internal rule of an undertaking which prohibits the visible wearing of any political, philosophical or religious sign does not constitute direct discrimination," the Luxembourg-based court said, reports AFP.
