Three Nobel laureates caught in one frame

What’s your pleasure? Masala Chai? Earl Grey? Green tea? – Nobel Laureate and Bharat Ratna recipient Amartya Sen's daughter Nandana Sen pitches the question in the caption of a photo posted on Facebook, featuring three Nobel laureates including her father.

The photo also caught two other Nobel laureates – Abhijit Banerjee and his wife Esther Duflo, who have seemingly met up with Amartya Sen for tea on Sunday, which also happens to be International Tea Day.

"Many problems of the world get solved over cups of #tea (esp. if you’re in such #Nobel company, thrice over!)" reads the caption of the photo posted on Nandana's official Facebook page.

Professor Amartya Kumar Sen was awarded the 1998 Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences for his contributions to Welfare Economics. His daughter Nandana Dev Sen is a Bollywood actress.

MIT economists Esther Duflo and Abhijit Banerjee were named co-winners of the 2019 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, along with another co-winner, Harvard University economist Michael Kremer.
