Jailed Iran rights campaigner Narges Mohammadi wins Nobel Peace Prize

Mohammadi is currently serving a lengthy sentence in Tehran's notorious Evin prison.

Last year, the prize went to Russian human rights group Memorial, Ukraine's Center for Civil Liberties and jailed Belarusian rights advocate Ales Bialiatski.

They were jointly recognised for the "promotion of peace", against the backdrop of the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The names of the nominees are kept a secret but more than 350 people and groups were in the running this year.
