Russia hits a Ukrainian government building for first time

Kyiv's main government building was hit in overnight strikes by Russia. BBC reports sighting Russian cruise missiles and an explosion.

It's very rare for Russian missiles and drones to hit right in the city centre because of the concentration of air defence in the area.

Elsewhere in the city, several multi-storey residential buildings were struck and partially destroyed in the attacks - two people have died and 13 others are injured.

Russia also attacked Kryvyi Rih - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky's hometown - striking three infrastructure facilities.

The attacks come as Russian President Vladimir Putin warns the West against sending peacekeeping troops to Ukraine after a ceasefire is agreed.
