Myanmar citizens who fled junta regime 'welcome to return'

Myanmar Junta leader Min Aung Hlaing on Friday said Myanmar citizens living in the US and other countries will be welcome if they wish to return.

"We are making arrangements to receive around 4,000 Myanmar nationals whose temporary protected status was revoked by the US Department of Homeland Security," he said during a press conference with visiting Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko, Myanmar's news media The Irrawaddy reports.

"If they are on the voter list, we will ensure they have the right to vote," he said, adding that his regime will "welcome all Myanmar citizens who have gone overseas, be it over political differences or for other reasons, to return to Myanmar and peacefully participate in the country’s democratic processes."
