One gunman killed, two others 'neutralised' in shooting at Israeli consulate in Istanbul, governor says

One gunman has been killed and two others "neutralised" after a shooting near the Israeli consulate in Istanbul, the city's governor says - what we know so far.

Two police officers have been injured and the attackers have been identified, according to Turkey's interior minister - he says one suspect has "ties to an organisation that exploits religion", reports BBC.

A large number of police are in the area, including armed plainclothes officers and ambulance crews.

The Israeli foreign ministry says it is examining reports of the shooting and confirms the consulate was not staffed at the time of the incident.

The consulate is in the north of Istanbul, Turkey's largest city, and comes amid heightened tensions around the US-Israeli war against Iran.
