Himanta Biswa Sarma sworn in as Assam Chief Minister

Himanta Biswa Sarma was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Assam of India for the second consecutive term. 

Governor Laxman Prasad Acharya administered the oath to him at a grand ceremony held at Khanapara in Guwahati on Tuesday.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman along with several top leaders of the BJP and NDA alliance were present on the occasion.

Along with Himanta Biswa Sarma, five members of the new cabinet also took oath today. They are former Union Minister Rameshwar Teli, Assam Gana Parishad President Atul Bora, United People's Party Liberal leader Charan Boro and senior BJP leader Ajanta Neog.

Chief ministers of 22 NDA-ruled states, BJP's national leadership, industrialists and eminent persons from various fields were present at the event.

Himanta Biswa Sarma came on stage in traditional Assamese attire at the swearing-in ceremony. At this time, the venue was filled with excitement from BJP workers and supporters.

It is worth noting that the BJP-led NDA alliance returned to power with a huge victory in the recently concluded assembly elections. 

Himanta Biswa Sarma took charge for the second time after becoming the Chief Minister for the first time in 2021. 

At the same time, the BJP further strengthened its political dominance in North-East India by forming the government in Assam for the third consecutive time.
