Fears of second Nepal-Tibet flood put rescuers 'on edge' as search for survivors continues

Rescuers searching for survivors in Nepal and Tibet are "on edge" over reports that a second flood could hit the devastated Himalayan border region, a Red Cross official tells the BBC.

A lake of rising water has formed near the China-Nepal border and has prompted fears it could burst its banks, reports the BBC's Laura Bicker in Beijing, reports BBC.

More than 900 people are missing and at least 389 have died in Nepal after Wednesday's flash flooding. In Tibet, three people have died and more than 550 are missing. It is not clear if the latest figures overlap.

A collapsed glacier caused the huge flood wave, local officials tell the BBC. The surge tore through houses and roads, and destroyed a key Nepal-Tibet border crossing.

Tens of thousands of tourists visit the area every year - the BBC has been speaking to relatives of the missing. Two sisters whose parents are missing say "we just love them a lot and want them to come home".
