Samakal in the world media

The Daily Samakal is now being discussed in the media at home and abroad following a report on cricket star Shakib Al Hasan published in the popular daily Bengali newspaper on Tuesday.

Hindustan Times, Anandabazar Patrika, NDTV of India published the report quoting the Daily Samakal.

Wah Cricket also published the report mentioning the name of the Bengali Daily.

Moreover, all private TV channels in Bangladesh broadcast the news quoting the Daily Samakal. Also online news portals at home and abroad carried the news on cricket all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan with or without quoting the Bengali daily.

On Tuesday, the Daily Samakal, published a report in the print version saying that two years ago, Shakib received an offer from a bookie before an international match, which he did not report to the ICC's Anti-Corruption and Security Unit (ACSU).

Shakib also confessed about it to the ACSU's investigating officers recently.

Under the circumstances, Shakib is likely to face 18-month ban by the ICC.

The report was also made available on the online version of the daily both in Bengali and English languages.

Soon after the published the report both in print and online, the media and readers at home and abroad grabbed the report and started running the news.
