Russian troops enter key Ukraine city Kharkiv

Russian troops have entered Ukraine's second-largest city Kharkiv, say local officials.

Air raid sirens have gone off in Kyiv this morning, but the centre is relatively calm, reports BBC.

Ukraine's defence minister hails his country's resistance, saying "the world doubted" them.

And the Ukrainian president has rejected negotiations with Russia in Belarus - saying the country has been used for attacks.

Huge numbers of people continue to flee Ukraine for neighbouring countries, including Poland and Moldova.

Western countries say they will remove some Russian banks from the Swift network, disconnecting them from the international financial system.

The US, Germany and the Netherlands are sending more weapons to aid Ukraine's war effort.
