Australia issues 3,000 visas for Ukrainians fleeing war

According to MSN News, Australia has received bipartisan support in welcoming Ukrainians fleeing the conflict, with the government promising to expedite student, skilled worker, and tourist visas.

3,000 visas have been given so far, and at least 300 Ukrainians are on their way, it said.

However, the majority of Ukrainians are arriving on tourist visas -- having paid over $1,000 each for last-minute flights out of central Europe.

Australia is yet to announce any onshore humanitarian packages or temporary protection visas for Ukrainians.
