A horror day of November 12 cyclone

Today, 52 years ago, the country's coastal districts, including Bhola, were devastated by a catastrophic hurricane that killed up to 500,000 people and left vast amounts of property damaged.

Many of the victims still vividly recall that horrible day. Some people are inconsolable in their sadness after losing family.

Various organizations have created programs including talks, seminars, Quran Khawni, and Milad Mahfils to commemorate the day.

In terms of the number of fatalities, the cyclone that struck the subcontinent in 1970 was the deadliest.

Over one lakh people were killed in Bhola alone when the cyclone, which had a top speed of 185 kilometers per hour, struck the Bangladeshi shore.

Since Wednesday morning (on November 11, 1970), it has been raining. The following day, the weather began to deteriorate. Sea conditions deteriorated about midnight.

High waves once surged in the direction of the communities. Along with other things, the storm washed away livestock, houses, standing crops, and people.

In the choppy waters of the Meghna and its tributaries, bodies were everywhere. The storm completely destroyed the Bhola. The local government had to impose a fishing ban due to the overwhelming number of bodies in the rivers.

The world's deadliest cyclone in recorded history, according to the World Meteorological Organization, occurred in 1970.
