Govt asks DCs to stop use of single-use plastic

The Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Ministry has requested the Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to take steps to stop the use of single-use plastic in all district and coastal government offices.

In addition, the ministry mandated that they plan monthly gatherings, ongoing discussions with stakeholders, and public awareness efforts to address contamination from plastic and polythene.

The ministry asked DCs to promptly shut down all unlawful brick kilns across the country, with an emphasis on the worst ones, in a separate letter from Environment Pollution Control Sub Wing (Odhi Shakha)-1.
