Rizwana for harsher drives against hill cutting, air pollution, polythene

District administrations, city corporations and the Department of Environment (DoE) will strengthen joint drives to combat hill cutting, air pollution, and use of banned polythene, said Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan.

She was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion on "Preventing the Use of Banned Polythene in Chattogram and Reducing Plastic Pollution" at Bangladesh Secretariat on Sunday.

The environment adviser emphasised to install warning signboards on hilly areas.

Increasing patrols, and issuing letters to hill owners to prevent hill cutting were also stressed in her speech. 

Strict legal actions would be taken against those violating the law, she added.

A list of polythene manufacturers would be made to start legal actions against them.
