Air pollution: Dhaka dwellers advised to wear facemasks

The environment department (DoE) advised people of Dhaka and its neighbourhood to mandatorily wear facemasks outside homes as its air quality index (AQI) reached a very unhealthy level at 10:00 am on Monday, an official release said.

The department also urged sensitive persons (ill persons, elderly and kids) to not leave their homes without an emergency.

It said AQI sometimes reaches an unhealthy stage in the capital city Dhaka and its neighbouring areas during the dry season, and that the air quality index changes every few hours.
