Diversifying our energy sources is of utmost importance

Starting a Journey at any establishment in a professional organization is like graduating from high school and moving on to your university. It is nerve wrecking, full of doubts, and inexperience is written all over your face and body language or at least for me that was very evident. My story started in Omera Petroleum Ltd.(OPL) is a subsidiary of MJL Bangladesh Ltd., an alliance partner of ExxonMobil  Corporation , the world’s largest integrated oil company.

Bangladesh’s fuel and energy sector is one of the fastest growing in South Asia. The growth in terms of capacity addition has been remarkable Electricity consumption has increased in line with the rise in capacity. Domestic and industrial sectors are the key power demand drivers in the country. The industrial sector has witnessed impressive growth in the last six to seven years Key industries driving growth in the country are RMG manufacturing, infrastructure development, and pharmaceutical. 

Diversifying our energy sources is of utmost importance. Facilitating renewable energy development will require the involvement of the government, the utilities, and the industry. The government will need to set targets for renewable energy deployment consistent with the national energy strategies. To prepare for the future, the focus should also shift to providing good consumer-centric services and not merely fulfilling demand requirements.

If a person is determined to achieve the goals set in front of him/her regardless of the challenges that are in the way, it is possible to take steps towards success with caution and focus. The story of my journey has been rough, tough but with the right motivation I was able to move forward learning and sharpening my skillset alongside my knowledge to succeed in anything I do related to my work. The younger generation is very lucky, they have all the necessary tools to help them guide to a successful career, but there will be a lot of obstacles in the way and it might get messy in different situations. The big factor for the up and comers have to face is how much are they willing to do to push them towards the next big step, channelling their focus and motivation at the right direction and of course learning the basics is the most important part of it. Some may have skills that are very impressive and some may take more time to learn than other, but once again if the fundamentals are strong, there is nothing in the world that can stop our future generation. The up and coming generation are far more skilled and intellectual in my humble opinion, the key is to use that towards their own advantage.
